China : leading indicator of a slight decrease in the growth rate

The recent evolution of the Conference Board Leading Economic Index for China points towards a slight slowdown of its growth.  This index goes in the same direction as other economic indicators for that country. Moreover, its growth forecast was recently revised slightly downward by the IMF and the OECD.

World Economy : Slight Improvement

According to the JPMorgan Global Manufacturing & Services PMI, the world economy showed signs of better conditions in May compared to April. The improvements, although modests, were present in the production and in the new orders components.

June 10 update : Monthly leading indicators from the OECD, publised today, also signal a "...moderate improvement in growth in most major economies." They point to a consolidation of growth in the United States and Japan, and growth close to the long term trend in many other countries.
